Nordic and Scandinavian Heritage Gifts: Flag T-Shirts

Nordic roots run deep in the Upper Midwest, from Sons of Norway lodges to Swedish festivals. Leif Erikson Day on October 9 and Norway's Constitution Day on May 17 are marked in many American towns.

Each Nordic shirt carries the flag, the name and the date the country began, with a design drawn from its own symbols: the fjord, the midnight sun, the runestones, the northern lights, fire and ice.

When to give it

  • Leif Erikson Day on October 9 and Syttende Mai on May 17
  • Christmas, with Julebord and Lucia traditions
  • A gift for a Sons of Norway or Vasa Order member
  • A wedding gift for a couple with Nordic grandparents

Heritage shirts for Nordic roots

How to choose

Start with the place they talk about most. If the roots are mixed, pick the one that comes up at family dinners. The "EST." date printed on the front is a good conversation starter. Shirts are made to order, so order early in the season; our shipping page has the current delivery details.
